CoPilot and AI Takes Center Stage: Reflections on Microsoft’s 2024 Wave 1 Business Apps Launch

Last week, I had a great time tuning into the Microsoft Business Application Launch for the 2024 Wave 1 Release. As usual, it was packed with some really cool presentations from the Microsoft team, spotlighting all the new bells and whistles in Dynamics and Power Platform areas. But what really set this event apart was how AI has taken center stage—just look at the visuals! They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and the ones from this event made it crystal clear: Copilot isn’t just part of the show; it’s leading it.

Reflecting on the past year, with the Generative AI scene exploding—thanks to big moves like ChatGPT—and Microsoft leading the charge, it’s thrilling to see these innovations now making their way into more specific enhancements and really improving how we interact with business applications.

Remember all those buzzwords we’ve heard over the last decade or two? Digital Transformation, Cloud-First Solutions, and the like? Well, move over, because it’s all about AI-First Transformation and Conversation-First Interaction now. We’re entering a new era where AI and users are starting to work together in really dynamic ways.

This shift is painting a clear picture of where things are headed and what new trends and standards we can expect in our professional lives, especially for those of us plugged into Microsoft’s tech ecosystem. It’s time to dive in and really embrace these changes, taking full advantage of what Copilot and GenAI have to offer. Let’s make the most of these tools to create our own success stories.

Below you can see some screen snips I captured for references and It’s pretty obvious that there isn’t a single feature update where Copilot or AI doesn’t pop up. It’s everywhere, and it’s exciting to see how integrated it’s becoming in everything Microsoft is rolling out.

And now, it’s the perfect time to take a fresh look at how we’re doing things. We need to rethink and reshape the features and user journeys in our solutions to really leverage what Copilots bring to the table. It’s no longer just about crafting slick UX and solutions; it’s about how we can infuse AI into the mix to make interactions more conversational and supportive. That’s where the real magic of Generative AI comes in. Imagine transforming our solutions into spaces where conversations drive the process, blending human insight with AI’s speed and smarts. By doing this, we’re not just going along with the revolution; we’re leading it, delivering exceptional value and tapping into the true potential of this technological leap.

If you haven’t caught the event yet and you’ve got some time, I highly recommend watching it firsthand right here. Trust me, it’s totally worth setting aside a bit of your day to soak in the insights from Microsoft’s carefully crafted presentations. It’s a whole different experience than just scrolling through online help or text articles. You’ll get a lot more out of the dynamic visuals and detailed explanations—straight from the source!
